Moving research from labs to markets

Innovation commercializationRISA / UK FCDO funding context

Context

Research and innovation systems need stronger links between institutions, researchers and industry.

The challenge

Barriers to commercialization include fragmented support, limited access to resources and weak connections between research and market demand.

Our contribution

Heritors Labs delivered research, ecosystem engagement and commercialization-support activities through the Research and Innovation Systems for Africa (RISA) Fund.

What we delivered

Research publications and commercialization frameworks, including innovation value-chain research and research–industry collaboration work, alongside ecosystem convening and capacity-building activities.

Outcome

The project created a body of research, practical frameworks and learning activity addressing the barriers between research and market application. Selected publications and report summaries can be explored in our research library.

Evidence

Public Heritors Labs reporting and internal project reports. Funding attribution is through the RISA Fund, supported by the UK FCDO.
